Press Release:
Honky Tonk Man Tagging In to the Phoenix Comicon
Legendary professional wrestler Roy Wayne Farris, better known as the Honky Tonk Man, is coming to the 2010 Phoenix Comicon. Farris has been in the business for over thirty years and has seen it all.
Of Farris’ announcement, Programing Director, Joe Boudrie proclaimed, “Watching Honky dismantle Ricky “the Dragon” Steamboat to claim the WWF Championship back in ’87 was one of the best days of my life,” adding, “seriously, it ranks up there with my wedding day and the day I found out Scott Bakula would be helming an Enterprise.”
Farris hales from Memphis, Tennessee, birthplace of modern-day professional wrestling. He turned a bit part as an Elvis impersonator in the enterprising new forum into a full-blown persona who wrestled with the stars at the top of their game.
Last May the Honky Tonk Man, along with Bushwacker Luke, earned the UCW Tag Team Championship belt. Convention Director, Matt Solberg stated, “Through all of the twists and turns wrestling has taken, the Honky Tonk Man has maintained a dominant presence. You can’t help but respect the man.”
