Cosplay is hard work!

Date: 6 Mar 2010
My parents have always told my to broaden my horizons and to try new things. I did that a while back, venturing out into the world to play video games and watch anime. Well apparently this isn’t flying with my parents and they want me to do more.

So, all I have to do is sit here and think of social gatherings I might be interested in. Since golf is out of the question, I turn to cosplay. I have heard of this, and I have seen videos of Anime Expo, and I've seen the costumes.

"Holy cow" was my first impression. I saw countless costumes and elaborate props. Man, that’s cool. But as I sat there thinking about what I might dress up as, I started to wonder…how far do these people go to wear something like that? I’m not going to bash any of these people, I have the utmost respect and admiration for them all. But…jeeze, what does it take to make or buy one of these costumes anyway?

I went online to see some prices and the range from $100 to almost $1,000! All of that for four days? Many say its worth it!

My friends invited my to this year's Anime Expo and they told me what they had to do in order to go…cosplay. One of them is planning to dress like Luffy, but he had to lose 5 pounds in order to do it, and he had to buff up on top of that! It's good to make your costumes out of scratch…and my other friend had to maker her outfit over the course of a year!

The dizzing fact about cosplay is that its actually hard work! Maybe I will just go withought wearing a costume?
