Looking for a little more than the standard 22 page comic this week? Or maybe you want to catch up on the series you missed out on last year? Well the new year is bringing in some seriously sweet collections from all the big guys and even some great Graphic Novels from independent publishers as well. The Gauntlet is getting thrown down this week, with everything from Vertigo's top seris of 2009 to the next chapter in Image's Zombie epic. Here's a look at what's in store:

SIEGE PRELUDE TPB

So Marvel's big event of the year is one seven years in the making. That's a lot of story to cover, but in case you missed out on some of the biggest changes in the Marvel Universe over the past few years, or happen to be curious about where SIEGE is picking-up from then you'll want to get a hold of this stellar collection. Featuring work by writers Brain Micheal Bendis, Matt Fraction, and J. Micheal Straczynski along with artists Daniel Acuna, Olivier Copiel, Mike Deodato and Marko Djurdjevic just to name a few. Just in time for SIEGE #1 to hit stores Marvel is hooking you up with everything you need to know about Norman Osborn's secret Cabel and the Dark Reign he's held over the Marvel Universe for so long.

THE UNWRITTEN VOL. 1 TOMMY TAYLOR AND THE BOGUS IDENITY

If you've been letting Vertigo's The Unwritten pass by unread then you're in luck. This week DC released the first volume of Mike Carey and Peter Gross's graphic masterpiece. Providing a perfect jumping on opportunity for those who've yet to discover the true magic behind this wonderful series. Collecting the first five issues of the series in softcover The Unwritten Vol. 1 presents the scandalous story of Tom Taylor, (the inspiration for a boy-wizard literary phenomena) as it was meant to be read.
