Review:
Thor and The Warriors Four #1

Recently Alltern8.com sat down with writer and comedian Alex Zalben to talk comics, comedy and his new limited series Thor and The Warriors Four from Marvel. You can check out the exclusive interview right here. Well, the first issue has hit stands and it just wouldn't be right for us not to take a look it. Does the first issue delver the goods ? Read on and find out:
Power Pack. Four siblings are given amazing powers to fight bad guys and do homework. The title has been one of Marvel's premier all- ages books since their first issues came out in 1984. In 2008 the young heroes were given a solid relaunching with their own series outside the mainstream Marvel Universe that has become a fan favorite with adult and kid readers alike.
Thor. Norse God of Thunder, Asgardian Warrior, and founding member the Avengers. Thor has been one of the cornerstones of the Marvel Universe since the seventies providing readers with a dose of sword and sorcery storytelling in a world filled with cap clad superheros and highly evolved technology.
A team-up between Power Pack and Thor has such awesome potential it's a wonder they've never paired up before. The Power Pack's light hearted adventures providing a unique contrast to the often grim battles of Thor and his brother Loki. With Alex Zalben and Japaneese art studio Gurihuru at the reins this first issue not only meets exceptions it exceeds them.
Despite the kid friendly approach to Power Pack there has always been a darker side to their stores and Zalben makes full use of that fact. Issue one begins with death, or near death to be more precise. Alex, Julie, Jack and Katie are in a hospital, not patients themselves, this time they are visiting their grandmother who isn't fairing so well. Things really kick off after a surprise visit from another Asgardian and legend of The Golden Apples of Idunn is revealed. Thus the quest to save the Power Pack's grandmother begins only it may as easy as it seems.
