How close can Cade Skywalker get to the dark side of the force before he finally loses himself to it? This book explores it in detail as Cade faces his greatest challenges against Darth Krayt's Sith Empire.

When last we left Cade (Star Wars Legacy Vol 2), Cade had reluctantly accepted his legacy as a Jedi and a Skywalker. Visited by the Force ghost of Luke Skywalker, Cade sets out on his own to free the Jedi Hosk Trey'lis from the clutches of the Empire. It was Cade who turned in Hosk back in Volume One and Cade will be damned if anyone dies because of him. Naturally, he walks right into a trap and is quickly captured after a fantastic battle with Darth Talon.
Darth Krayt will do anything to turn Cade to the dark side and the Sith, including using Cade's friends Deliah Blue and Jariah Syn, who he's infected with the Yuuzhan Vong Yorik-Kul coral seeds. Cade heals his friends and bargains with Krayt that he will begin his training as a Sith if Krayt releases his friends. Darth Krayt tries to manipulate Cade anyway he can, but Cade will be no one's slave and proves so as he manipulates events to his own end, including a "romance" with Darth Talon.

However, Cade's friends will not just leave their friend to die or be turned, so they hook up with Cade's mother Morrigan Corde and begin a mission to rescue Cade.

We also get the revelation of just who Darth Krayt is. If you've been reading Ostrander and Duursema since their Republic days then you'll thoroughly enjoy who Krayt really is. If you haven't, you've got some reading to do. That's probably the only flaw in the book, the revelation won't have the needed impact if you're new to Dark Horse's Star Wars comics.
