Review: Siege the Cabal

Siege The Cabalby Brian Michael Bendis, And Michael Lark
The Siege Cabal one-shot shapes up to be a good lead-in to Marvel's Siege event. Norman Osborn finally decides it's time to storm Asgard, fulfilling his promise to Loki and in turn, seeking his own glory with the American public. After a great back and forth between Norman and his Goblin personality, we jump right into problem #1--Doctor Doom wants nothing of it, which of course turns their tea party into huge slap fest. Norman even pulls out his mysterious secret weapon, which I believe to be Marvel's recently acquired Marvelman (Mircaleman), to put Doctor Doom down. But Doctor Doom is nothing if not inventive as his Doombot releases Doom-locust upon destruction, damaging the Avengers tower and further embarrassing Norman.
Now on to problem #2 --the American government wants nothing to do with storming Asgard. So Norm and Loki need an incident, an Asgardian incident as Loki puts it, on scale with the incident that started the super hero Civil War to give them cause to invade Asgard. So Loki says he can set that in motion, as long as Norman remains strong. But just what does Loki, the master manipulator, have in mind?
Michael Lark's art here is fantastic from the dialogue shots to the action, his panel set up is very engaging without being overdone.
Siege Cabal also contains a 6 page preview of Siege #1 starring my favorite Asgardian, Volstagg. It's the first six pages of the first issue and Olivier Copiel's art is stunning, I really can't wait for this to start.
