Marvel Picks Part 1--Siege #3, Spider-Woman #7 and X-Men Legacy #234

Siege #3
One thing I really liked about the Siege series so far is that so much has happened in three issues. For a change, they didn't try to spread this out over six to eight issues. It's constant action and constant chaos crammed into just three issues really gives the feel of the craziness of the battles. Last issue left us with Ares torn in half by the Sentry as we saw Captain America's shield heading right towards Norman Osborn's face.
This issue is told from the point of view of the White House and they try to decide just what to do with Norman's treason. They are more than happy that the real Avengers have arrived on the scene. While there are not any "holy crap" moments like when Ares was killed, there are some really cool scenes as Thor takes on the Sentry, the Hood and his super villains show up, the unmasking of the Iron Patriot and then of course what happens with the Sentry...

Spider-Woman #7
The good news is this storyline ends great. Jessica finally tracks down her Skrull, who proves to be way too much for her to handle. Thankfully for her, the New Avengers show up with some much needed support, while proving to her that she still has friends even after all the Secret Invasion events. Her conversation with Wolverine is particularly great.
Now the bad news--this is the last issue for a while. I guess Maleev is pretty burnt on drawing Spider-Woman as since this started as a motion comic, he had to do three times the amount of pages for it. So I'm really disappointed because I enjoyed this series so much, but I'd rather have it end on a good storyline than drawn out and turn crappy.
But there's more good news--Bendis announces at the back of the issue that he and Maleev are working on a creator owned book through Marvel's Icon imprint. The book is called Scarlet and proves to be even beautiful than his work on Spider-Woman. So at least I got something to look forward to. My favorite Bendis work is always where he can cut loose (Powers, Goldfish, Jinx) so being on the Icon imprint should allow him to do what he wants.
