Review:
Marvel Picks of the Week--Uncanny X-Men #521, Spider-Woman #6 & Dark Avengers #14!

Spider-Woman #6
Another excellent issue here as Spider-Woman takes on the Thunderbolts. I really like how she has no idea who individually these characters are, as I don't either, since I don't read Thunderbolts. But Jessica Drew proves to be the badass that Bendis has built her to be as she systematically takes down all the Thunderbolts. As normal, this issue is full of witty dialogue and beautiful art and continues to be one of my favorite reads each month. If you're looking to get into this book, check out my review of the first three issues here or hit your comic book shop. You can easily find all six issues in your comic book shop's back issues for around cover price, so support your local shop and help clear out those back issues!

Uncanny X-Men #521
I've always been a fan of Magneto as a reformed member of the X-Men. As a villain, I've always found him stale and boring. But something about him trying to make up for past transgressions has always intrigued me. For the majority of this issue, we have Magneto meditating on a hillside as Emma Frost and Cyclops try to figure out just what he's doing. The rest of the issue deals with Wolverine's mini group of X-Men getting their butts kick by the villain-group-of-the-month that starts with the upper hand until Fantomex shows up and changes the tide. Pretty standard X (and super heroes in general) fight but I like it because I like Fantomex so much. But the main reason I bring this issue up is the last page as the X-scientist figure out what Magneto is doing--and that will lead into the return of one of my favorite X characters.
