Batman & Robin #12

Grant Morrison finishes up the last issue of his Batman vs. Robin storyline with issue #12, the lead-in story to next week's Batman The Return of Bruce Wayne. We find out the identity of the mysterious Oberon Sexton and on top of that, who the Domino Killer really is. It's been hinted that Sexton is actually Bruce Wayne, I myself had thought that one when Sexton first appeared. Is he Bruce Wayne? You'll have to read it to find out for sure, but I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I know I was.

Otherwise the issue finishes great. Robin is now being controlled by none other than Slade Wilson, Deathstroke the Terminator. So it's Batman vs. Robin as Robin attempts to get control over his body. Deathstroke and Talia are controlling Damien through his new spine that he received during the last storyline. The enemy now has the book that Dick had recovered from the depths of the Bat Cave. Bruce's messages and hidden clues from the beginning of time are pure Grant Morrison and I love it. He also sets up something cool between Damien and Talia when Damien chooses the Bat Family over Talia. Plus there's the introduction of Damien's new "brother." I'm really looking forward the progression of that. Overall I'm loving Grant Morrison's run on Batman and Robin and I think I'll give it all a re-read before next week's Return of Bruce Wayne.

I, Zombie #1

I was really looking forward to this book and I'm happy to say I'm not disappointed. Gwen Dylan is a gravedigger by day, zombie detective by night. No, not a detective of zombies, but she herself is a zombie who's also a detective. She has to eat one brain a month or she'll go, as she says it, "all mindless and shambling. Total Night of the Living Dead." Of course, she gets that brain's memories and sometimes they scream at her for justice. Chris Roberson writes a really fun, interesting story here full of quirkiness and interesting characters (I mean were-terriers, how awesome is that?). Mike Allred has always been fantastic at drawing cute, sexy girls and here he excels with it. Plus the first issue is only $1! There's no reason not to try it out.
