Review:
Aw Yeah! DC Comics for the Week of Christmas!

Blackest Night JSA #1
Blackest Night JSA #1 marks the beginning of the seventh three issue tie-in mini-series for the Blackest Night event. It's pretty much a continuation of Blackest Night Superman. By James Robinson and Eddy Burrows (the creative team behind the Blackest Night Superman), we find the JSA battling dead JSA members and Mr. Terrific, Power Girl and Wildcat examining the bodies of Black Lantern Earth 2 Superman and Psycho Pirate.
The issue starts off with the typical memory download of dead super heroes giving the readers a small rundown of the history of the Black Lantern host. I for one am getting tired of this. With a series so large and long running, I really don't care to see the background of every resurrected super hero. I want to see the story move forward. And with Blackest Night JSA, the story doesn't move forward at all. If anything, it treads backwards as the Black Lanterns are still ripping people's hearts out which means in the time line Nekron hasn't risen--which puts it almost 2 issues behind where the main series is.
Now it's not a bad read. Pretty straight forward super heroics mixed with horror. But we really don't need this series. It does nothing for the main series. But if you like the JSA, you'll like it as the characters are well represented here. I'm just getting irritated with all the added books. Originally it was just supposed to be the main Blackest Night book, 4 mini-series and then both GL titles. Then suddenly there are 3 more mini-series and series tie ins and now the resurrection of dead titles. And we still have two months worth of unsolicited time. If were going to have all these mini-series, I just wish they'd matter more to the overall story. But I guess that's not the nature of these events.
